SAP Retail - Basics

SAP Retail is an industry-specific solution solely cater for retail needs.

Similar to the manufacturing system, retail consists of SD, MM FICO modules primarily. To handle retail functionalities, we have retail consultant as well.

There is a general terminology difference between retail and manufacturing system but however, the core functionality is the same.

Terminology

ECC                                                 Retail

Material                                        Article


Plant                                             Site

Manufacturing plants or depo are treated as plants in the ECC system. In Retail, Stores and distribution centers are treated as Sites. The site creation is part of master data in Retail but whereas Plant is configuration activity in ECC.


Material Group                             Merchandise Category


In ECC Material group is primarily used for reporting and pricing. This is optional functionality in ECC system but in Retail, all articles will be maintained at merchandise category level so it's mandatory to use the merchandise category in the retail system.


In Retail master data play a key role due to that there will be separate master data consultant available for larger companies.

  • Article Master data
  • Site Master data
  • Assortment / Listing
  • Customer Master data
  • Vendor Master Data

If there is the requirement for collective deletion of Outbound deliveries in standard, the following can be performed. Transaction VL10* with corresponding user role settings can meet this requirement. Go to VL10*, only flag indicator 'With Deliveries' in 'Data Selection' column in User Role After flagging above indicator, go into the following screen. At times, there might be a situation in the test environment where we are required to perform database updates in order to manipulate or try to replicate a case in a lower environment.
